Minutes of
NJROTC Booster Club Meeting Minutes

March 8, 2007

Phyllis opened the meeting discussing the BBQ chicken fundraiser.  The fundraiser was a success.  We raised $1,400.00 and $1,000.00 went to help defer cost for the Pensacola trip.  There were issues.  Pre-ordered meals did not go out as planned, we did not have enough help and some cadets were not honest about how many dinners they had paid for.  Hopefully our next fundraiser will run a little smoother now that we have some experience and know what to expect.

The booster club parents asked Top about the military ball preparations.  There have been some accusations that the parents were upset with Villar over how much had been accomplished so far and the fact that the booster club has not been involved.  The booster club assured Top that this is not the case and we only want to make sure we are not stuck doing everything at the last minute as we did last year.  Top will meet with Villar and Petite tomorrow and give them a deadline to get things done.  Such as caterer, photographer and decorations picked out.  The military ball is planned for May 5, 2007 at the school.

Top will be doing the slide show for the military ball and awards banquet, so any one that has pictures or video to contribute, you need to send them to him.

The nursing home visit that was supposed to happen around Christmas time needs to be done.  Top will get with Adam about setting a date.

Top told us that it did not look hopeful about NRJROTC getting the building they had asked for.  They will not find out anything until the school decides if they will replace the teacher that is leaving.  It may be next school year before we know anything and the band wants the building too.

The date for the spaghetti dinner is May 15, 2007.  The recruiting will take place prior to this and the cadets will hand out flyers to possible future cadets to attend.  Phyllis asked that we split the preparation of the spaghetti and get several parents to cook.

Our competition at STA will be on April 21, 2007.  So far it looks like we might have eight schools in attendance.  We will try to put together some kind of sign up sheet for concessions for parents and cadets.

Slidell is March 17, 2007.  White uniforms are due on Monday.

Covington is March 31, 2007.

Melanie Boudreaux suggested that Top or Cap call the School Board office and make sure we are getting the reduced rate for our bus drivers for competitions.  Cathy, the head of the bus drivers, told Melanie that she doesn’t think we are getting the correct rate.

Our next meeting will be April 19, 2007
