Minutes of
Booster Club Meeting
April 11, 2006
Brett St. Germain opened the Booster Club meeting. Brett is the current Booster Club President. He welcomed everyone and asked Capt to start with any current business.
1. Pictures, both group and individual, are scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Parents will be able to view the pictures in a couple of weeks to decide what they would like to purchase. A collage has been available for purchase every year.
2. The plans for the military ball are well under way. The ball committee has everything taken care of except some last minute caterer decisions and a D.J. for the ball. The cost of the tickets are $8.00 each or $16.00 per couple. These are available now. They are expecting around eighty cadets to attend. There is a need for several parents to help with the ball. Parents are needed to help set-up before the ball and help serve the food. The commons area will be available at 3:00 on the day of the ball for decorating. Anyone interested in helping, please let Amanda Miller know as soon as possible. Parents attending the ball are asked to wear Sunday’s best, no jeans please.
3. Friday, May 12, 2006 is field day for any NJROTC student that qualifies. Students will not be in class this day, unless the teachers request they attend their class due to grades or other issues. Parents are invited to attend.
4. School Award’s night will be on May 15, 2006. Senior NJROTC students will receive their awards then.
5. Basic Leadership Training camp date is set for June. Cap asked for five female and five male positions, but he doubts that he will get that many. Any cadet that received an invitation to attend must pass the physical fitness test, must have good grades and has to submit an essay on why they should be chosen to go.
6. Cap and Top are discussing having practice for some teams during the summer. Practice would be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Anyone interested in weight lifting could also attend during these times.
7. Officer selections will be announced at the military ball. Not all positions have been decided for next year.
8. Mini Boot Camp will take place two weeks before school starts. Current active cadets will host this for all incoming Freshman. The cadets should be able to handle everything that week with Cap and Top’s assistance.
9. There was some discussion on fundraisers and getting the word out to parents of new cadets and anyone interested in joining the booster club.
10. Booster Club elections are held every year for President, Vice President, Secretary and Financial Advisor. Brett opened the election proceedings and asked for any nominations for positions. Phyllis Roberts was nominated for President. Melissa Ficklin was nominated for Vice President. Marie Parker was nominated for Secretary and there was no one present interested in the Financial Advisor position. After unanimous voting, all of the above were elected to those positions.
11. There was some discussion concerning the booster club account and questions about future meetings.
The meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be held on May 9, 2006
