Minutes of
NJROTC Booster Club Meeting
September 11, 2007
Welcome to the 2007-2008 NJROTC Booster Club. This was the first meeting for the 2007/08 school year.
Capt. Beaver opened the Booster Club Meeting by announcing that Phyllis Roberts had decided to step down as president. It was decided that the meeting would continue as scheduled and an election would be held at the end.
The NJROTC cadets worked approximately 2,000 hours over the summer on work related experiences such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Capt and Top had the cadets getting the classrooms, offices and warehouse space ready for the start of school. The cadets were in charge of painting and moving materials. The cadets are also in charge of inventory of equipment and uniforms.
The Color Guard has performed several times already. They were at the open house and the Zephyrs game. The Color Guard has a competition this weekend. This competition is to decide what unit gets to present the colors at the Navy ball in October. Capt will give more details to the cadets and parents of Color Guard cadets in the next few days.
The football field clean-ups have started already. Our first home game was last Friday. Melissa, Phyllis and Melanie attended. There were about 12 cadets that attended as well. We need more parent and cadet participation. These clean-ups take longer when you have less kids and it’s not fair that the same parents and cadets do them every time. The money that is earned for this is $400.00 each clean-up. The time that the cadets put in is used to calculate how much money they earn and this money goes toward the Pensacola trip.
Our first team competitions will be the first and second Saturdays in October. We will not be going to Covington in September. Capt gave the new parents a brief description of our teams and how a competition works.
November 3, 2007 is our competition. We will need lots of volunteers to help with concession and running the event.
The next booster club meeting in scheduled for Thursday, October 11, 2007.
The meeting adjourned at 7:15.
