Minutes of

NJROTC Booster Club Meeting
September 14, 2006

Welcome to the 2006-2007 NJROTC Booster Club.  This was the first meeting for the 2006/07 school year.  Phyllis Roberts is President, Melissa Ficklin

is Vice President and Marie Parker is Secretary.

Captain Beaver started our discussion with the new EDLINE that is available to parents and students.  He introduced the Freshman parents to the

St. Amant NJROTC web page and all of it’s links and valuable information.  The EDLINE has a link on the web site and he showed us all how it works.

Capt. explained to the new parents how the NJROTC works and its benefits to the students.

The competition schedule has been posted on the web site and is complete as possible.  It is subject to change.  The first competition listed is for S

eptember 23, 2006 for the Color Guard.  There is a possibility that we will not attend this competition.  The first out of state competition is Pensacola and

it is scheduled for February 7, 2007.  The St. Amant hosted competition is scheduled for the last Saturday in January (27th).  This year we hope to have ten

teams compete.  We will need lots of parent participation for this event.  Concession workers, food preparers, and score counters.  We will need to start to

prepare for this event as soon as possible.

Capt will submit a field trip grant to Target.  They have a program available to help with our field trips.  The grant is up to $1,000.00.  Capt hopes to bring the

NS2 on a field trip to the Space Center in Bay St. Louis and the NS3 to Pensacola.  Capt also asked if anyone worked for Exxon or had a spouse that did.

They have a donation program for any family that participates in a school club.  Robbie Richard said her husband works there and would fill out the papers and

submit them.  Capt will send the papers he has, home with April .

At the last meeting in May, we discussed working the Senior Olympics in September but Capt said he never received a call back on this so as far as he knew,

we were not doing anything for it.  We also discussed the Adopt a Road clean-up.  Capt would prefer with we held off on it until after football season.

The NJROTC has the opportunity to make $400.00 per home football game for cleaning the campus on the Saturday after. This would be $2400.00 for the account.

The first cleaning day did not have a good turnout and there was a lot of work.  Capt and the other parents present said they would work on getting more participation.

Phyllis explained our candle fundraiser and brought a sample box to show the new parents.  Marie will take the candles home and will work on getting them to people

willing to sell them.

Tina Mouch volunteered to take the call list Adam is compiling and make the calls for the next meeting.

Capt talked to us about new wind suits. He said if we were interested, we could buy our own from Red Sticks Sports.  Just contact Scott Nielson.  The name brand

is NO LOGO Style 969 for $47.00.

At the next meeting we need to discuss fundraisers, competition, military ball and Saturday Clean-up days.

The next booster club meeting in scheduled for Thursday, October 12, 2006.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10.
