Minutes of
Booster Club Meeting
May 6, 2006
This is the first booster club under the new leadership. Phyllis Roberts, President, opened the meeting by addressing the old news first.
1. Candle sells are
still going on. There are several sample boxes out. If there are any parents
that are willing to take one and send it around, please let us know. So far the
candles sells have made $194.00.
2. Adam Hannah is working on a current phone list. We will try to create
a parent call list. This way there isn’t one parent stuck doing all of the
calling.
3. The military ball was a success. The Booster Club talked of ways to
improve next year, since there will be a very small number of junior and senior
girls next year, The Booster Club may have to take on most of the responsibility
for this event. Darry took pictures and donated a percent of his profits back
to the NJROTC. He donated over one hundred dollars. He also donated a snapshot
album that anyone can order out of. The picture packages should be in soon..
4. Friday, May 12th, is Field day for NJROTC. Any parent interested
in attending and helping is welcome to come. Any help would be appreciated.
5. BLT camp in June 11th-17th. Cadets that were
selected to go will be getting their information soon. LA camp (upperclassmen)
will be June 18th –June 24th. The cadets will need rides
to and from this. It may be possible to get by with two vehicles to go to
BLT and one vehicle for LA. The graduation for the camp is on Saturday at 9:00
AM. The camp is located in Meridian Mississippi.
1. Mr. Henry, past
Booster Club Officer, is the Post Commander for the Gonzales American Legion.
The American Legion has donated funds to help with the Washington trip this past
year and has asked for our help for parking for the Jambalaya Festival on May 26th,
27th, and 28th. They need two cadets per shift. The
shifts will be Friday 3:00-8:00, Saturday 9:00-6:00 and Sunday 12:00-5:00.
Anyone volunteering for this would earn community service hours. Adam will get
with Petite to get a list of interested cadets together and make a schedule.
2. The Senior Olympics has approached Caption Beaver about helping with
their event. This would also be a community service project. The event is in
September but there is a possibility that we have a competition that same
weekend. Adam and Petit will decide what the competition schedule will be and
see if we could fit this in.
3. St. Amant’s competition will be sometime in January. The Booster Club
will need everyone’s assistant to make this a successful event. More details
will be forthcoming.
4. The Booster Club talked about many fundraising events for the summer
and next year and several community service events. The mini boot camp for new
cadets will be July 24th –28th. The Booster Club will
attempt to do our Jambalaya fundraiser that week. Prep week for student is July
30th – Aug. 4th. We will try to have a table at prep week
to help collect NJROTC fees. Any parents available to help please let us know.
5. Top asked the parents of cadets that go to competitions to get together
and find some ideas to help our competitions run smoother. The girls need a
uniform hairstyle and the cadets need a better way to keep up with their
uniforms. The cadets work hard to get to these competitions and need our help
in any way possible.
6. The Booster Club decided to try and change the meeting day. The next
Booster Club meeting will be held on the second Thursday in September.
September 14, 2006
In closing, The Booster Club asked that all parents of cadets make an effort to try to participate in fundraisers and events. This is for your children and every little bit helps. If you have suggestions, request or ideas, please join us for a meeting or give any of the officers a call.
